Product Description

This exquisite sword stand is an outstanding example from the later Edo period, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and artistic sensibilities of the era. Expertly constructed from sugi (Japanese cedar), the stand is finished in a vivid vermillion urushi lacquer, lending it a striking yet elegant appearance. The surface is richly decorated with raised floral motifs rendered in shibo-urushi-nuri, a rare and intricate lacquer technique that adds texture and depth to the design.

Capable of holding up to five swords, this stand was likely intended for a high-ranking samurai or collector or nihonto. Its original storage box is included, a rare feature that significantly enhances its value and authenticity.

A true collector’s item, this piece is not only a functional sword rack but also a remarkable work of art.
